Kaptanoglu Shipping has been engaged in shipping for almost a century. Existence of the company flashes back to 1904 when the father of Haci ISMAIL KAPTANOGLU has started the shipping activities. Those days were the last periods of the Ottoman Empire where shipping was mainly domained by foreign companies, even in the Empire's territories.
Kaptanoglu family was one of the pioneer families in the shipping business in Turkey. Our first so called ship was nothing more than a small cutter. Just like many other Turks, Kaptanoglu family started to grow with the Republic of Turkey.
H.I. Kaptanoglu has established his own company in 1940 and later on his sons, Engin-Gündüz-Cengiz have joined to him. This was how H.I. Kaptanoglu Group of Companies were born.
As the years passed, Kaptanoglu Shipping has moved from cutters to modern ships. Today, Kaptanoglu Group is operating in almost every segment of the shipping business such as ship owning, ship operating and brokering, ship building, ro-ro liner, agency services, and foreign trading company.
Group has also been expanding into new business lines such as construction, energy, yacht building and foreign trade. |
